Camille Verboort was raised near Portland, Oregon and received her Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting from Portland State University. Since the early 1990s she has explored the social issues of gender through paintings and film. Societal standards and expectations of behavior, as well as biological differences between the sexes have been primary concerns in her work. More recently, issues of memory and home have come into play in her work, resulting in a series of small-scale sculptures.
