Bio Liz Koerner was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. At a young age she enjoyed making pop-up books, popsicle-stick contraptions and moving her bedroom furniture into imaginative (and impractical) configurations. In 2009 she graduated with a BFA in furniture design from California College of the Arts. As a student, she received scholarships from Anderson Ranch Arts Center and the American Craft Council. In 2008 she attended the Emma Lake International Artist Collaboration in Saskatchewan, Canada. Since graduation she has worked for various Bay Area furniture makers and production shops, and also taught carpentry to girls through the program Rosie’s Girls. She is a resident studio artist at Root Division in San Francisco. Her other hobbies include biking, backpacking, collecting rocks and making blueberry pancakes. Website
