Artist Statement
Things that interest me in the visual realm
tend to revolve around the human body. In describing
it and exploring it, I generally approach it from the
surface. However, this view has proven to have its
limitations in a truly representing the human
condition. Disease, parasites and viruses are my
favorite things to look at and render. I attempt to
consider the figure from the inside out. By rendering
its ailments and afflictions, I feel that I can
produce a more accurate portrayal.
Most of the studies have been chosen on their
aesthetics. Some have been manipulated, staged. "What is the outside of an organic nature, if not the
eternally changing appearance of the inside?"
