INTRODUCTIONS 2008 Exhibition at ROOT DIVISION


Exhibition Dates: September 10 - 27, 2008
Opening Reception: Saturday, September 13, 7-10 p.m.

Deadline for submission: Monday, July 14, 2008

Root Division invites artists working in all genres to submit work for an exhibition called Introductions 2008. The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase new and emerging work made by artists living and/or working in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Artists must be living and/or working in the SF Bay Area.
  • Artwork submitted for review (or work very similar in nature to that submitted) must be available for listed exhibition dates.
  • Artists cannot have existing gallery representation in the Bay Area.

Jurors for Introductions 2008

  • Kate Eilertsen: Acting Director of Visual Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
  • Amy Ellingson: Artist; Associate Professor of Painting, SFAI
  • Jack Fischer: Owner, Jack Fischer Gallery

Checklist of application materials:

  • 4 images (jpegs: 72 dpi, 600x800 pixels max) (Digital only please; Sorry, no slides) AND/OR 3-minute video clip on CD/DVD for Mac
  • Artist resume (1-2 pages max)
  • Artist Statement (1 page max)
  • SASE (for return of materials if desired)
  • Completed application form

** Artists selected for the exhibition will be notified by July 31, 2008 via email or phone about the inclusion of their work in the show. Studio visits will be conducted as necessary, but good documentation of work for submission is strongly suggested. **
